THE ROBOT GARAGE
KOKO transformed an existing auto mechanic garage into a dynamic open space kids laboratory for classes, workshops, and large scale Lego constructions for The Robot Garage, an innovative start-up company with a mission to inspire creators of tomorrow with immersive interactive robotics and engineering experiences. Based on its success, The Robot Garage was awarded several grants from Chase and Google, and is creating two additional Robot Garages to inspire more future engineers.
A critical aspect of The Robot Garage project was to connect real life immersive elements to the engineering learning process, one that typically suggests individual and isolated experiences with screens. KOKO designed spaces so that children would move seamlessly from learning the technology to putting their expertise to work in a very hands-on way with both small group and larger class environments. The Robot Garage has had a tremendous impact on the local Detroit community by fostering long lasting symbiotic partnerships between professional engineers and young future creators.
